To say that 2019 was a big year for the Houston Center campus would be an understatement! We unveiled plans for the major redevelopment of Houston Center and welcomed new members to the Houston Center family. With the new year officially underway, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the latest additions to our campus.
Direct Energy
In April 2021, Direct Energy will be moving its corporate headquarters from Greenway Plaza to 2 Houston Center. The leading North American electricity, natural gas, and energy-related services retailer will have the largest office footprint at 2 Houston Center to date, leasing 105,578 square feet of office space on floors 6 and 7, as well as space on P1.
Gensler
After more than 40 years, Gensler announced it would be relocating its Houston office from Pennzoil Place to 2 Houston Center. Fun fact! Did you know that Gensler is the project architect leading the redesign of Houston Center?
Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP (Vorys)
Law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease signed a new lease at 2 Houston Center for 22,627 square feet of office space on the 27th floor.
Through the redevelopment, we are raising the bar in the tenant experience and re-establishing Houston Center as the epicenter of culture and collaboration in downtown Houston. Some of the exciting developments underway include:
- An entirely new arrival experience through a reimagined central plaza and greenspace, offering seamless connection to the street-level and nearby attractions;
- Renovation of the 2 Houston Center and LyondellBasell Tower lobbies, featuring two-story glass façade at 2 Houston Center and modernized elevator cabs throughout;
- Completely reclad skybridges connecting the complex to shopping and retail center;
- A new world-class fitness center;
- Reshaping the retail and dining experience throughout Houston Center;
- New multi-tenant corridor and restroom finish design; and
- Conferencing venues and lobby co-working spaces fostering communication and ideation, including a new outdoor sky deck.
With all of the new changes at the Houston Center campus, we are looking forward to what 2020 has in store, especially the project’s expected completion in late 2020!
